Recording At Rose Studios

Last week we finished recording drums and bass for our new album! We spent three 10 hour days in Rose Studios with the incredibly talented Danny Rose, who engineered the sessions. We captured some pretty awesome moments in the studio thanks to our incredible filmographer, Miranda Sherrell. Stay tuned for more footage! We are recording again soon in late July upstate in the Catskill Mountains. Always love!

Balcony TV Performance in Brooklyn, NY

We were thrilled when BalconyTV Brooklyn invited us to perform one of our songs on their rooftop in Greenpoint. What a perfect sunny day to play "On Holiday"- it felt like perpetual vacation up there with that incredible view of our beautiful city.

Interview with 'Black On the Canvas'

Rick Perez is a photographer and journalist for the Indie music website 'Black On the Canvas'. We spent the day with him in the aftermath of the monster snow storm that dropped a blanket of snow over Manhattan. Rick captured Fort Vine in the city's urban winter wonderland. A Look Back at Our Songwriting Retreat

Our songwriting adventure ended nearly a week ago and we are still buzzing from all the positive energy. Each morning we would wake up slowly, one by one, and mosey to the kitchen where Trevor would start brewing a massive pot of freshly ground coffee. We'd throw some logs into the wood stove, eat a five-star breakfast made by Trevor's mom, Alice, and then start to jam together. It felt like we were living in a rock star fantasy land. There were many different musical places we explored together and definitely pushed our limits as songwriters. Sometimes we tried playing each other's instruments which was really fun. We recorded almost 50 hours of material and now we are pulling from those amazing bursts of inspiration to continue writing our next album.

Songwriting Retreat Day 1

Yesterday we had a great day driving Upstate. It was a sweet feeling to leave the city, knowing we were headed to the countryside. We stocked up on delicious groceries at the local Hannaford grocery store and then picked up Luke at the Hudson train station. Late last night we finally got all our music equipment up and running. We had a little trouble getting the audio interfaces working in sync but Luke and Kenny are geniuses and figured it out! We all hit the hay around 2am. It was a great first day! Today we get busy writing some new grooves. Stay tuned.

Fort Vine Songwriting Retreat

In two days we will pack up all our music gear from our Brooklyn studio and head into the Catskill Mountains of Upstate New York for a week-long songwriting retreat! (16th-22nd) We will be living together, drinking coffee every morning next to the warm wood stove and letting the inspiration of the country air amplify our creativity. The beauty of technology these days is that you, too can be a part of this experience by following our Blog, TwitterFacebook and Instagram. We may even stream some of our songwriting sessions live through a free app you can download to your phone called Periscope.  Fun stuff!

Our goal for this trip is to write music for the next album. We're excited to test out this form of collaboration and share with you the new material we create together.

When we return from the Catskill Mountains we will be performing at The Bowery Electric on January 29th at 8:00p.m. If you'll be in NYC that Friday night you can pre-order tickets HERE.
